Bright Frog:
Top deck.
Bright Frog was asked by this client to work along side a London based garden designer. What the client wanted was a totally unique hardwood deck to form the focus of his new garden.
Before work could begin there were many issues that needed resolving through a series of meetings and site visits. Not least of these was the second world war Anderson shelter which had been coverted into a tool shed and which was situated directly where the deck was to be built...
We built a series of walls, from Cambridge stock, to form the faces of the deck and the two steps up to it. The joists were supported by 24 threaded rods fixed into the roof of the shelter all of which could be adjusted individually untill the joists were all level.
Masaranduba, a Forest Stewardship Council certificated hardwood, was chosen for the deck surface and once fitted it was sanded and treated with a clear preservative.
Access to the shelter is hidden under an extention to the deck which lifts up to expose the steps down.
The project is still ongoing, once it's completed we'll post more pictures on this page.
Budget for this project was £6,500.00.
